Why have cars become so complex?

That's just the way it is, if you want to work on your car when it breaks, you going to have to go to school to learn how to fix it, or have a friend that can teach you... In all honesty, cars have had computers since the early 80s, there not that bad. I would recommend an older (early 2000s) Subaru, they are about the most simple newer car on the market, minus there awd system. The doors don't lock as soon as you hit 10mph(they expect you to sit in the car, not fall out), they're not drive by wire, no goofy light headlight timers(turn the key off so do the lights), and that's just a few off the top of my head...
